Darling Sophanista, welcome to Wanderlust Spain.
Malaga, La Casa del Cardenal: I saw this pendant under a pile of old silver coins in this magnificent antique shop. The case was FILLED with bowls of baubles and rosaries... this medallion peeked out because it was just a tad different from the rest of the case. Do I think objects have a life of their own? I don't know... I DO know that this pendant was calling me, and the moment it was in my hand- I knew it would be a part of something fabulous: a one of a kind necklace for you, Sophanista.
The vintage buttons you see pictured are actually embellishments for religious statues called Virgens... these lavishly decorated statues are prominently displayed in homes and venerated in churches. Francisca (the lovely lady in blue) proudly showed me a locked room where they had INCREDIBLY detailed Virgenes for sale that had once held such distinction to a family.
From the clicks on the cobblestones, the aromas of paella, to the swirls of Moorish castles and the OLÈ of Flamenco dancers… YOU were on this Spanish adventure with me, darling Sophanista. This collection gathers elements of Malaga and Seville, from jaw dropping antique stores, quiet street vendors, and pieces that remind us of that magnificent adventure.
Thank you, darling Sophanista.
