How Do I Love Thee, Let Me Count the Ways: vintage porcelain, moonstone necklace

Part of our Bejeweled Stories series: to make this collection come alive, I wrote the short story, "Tiny Things,"about mothers, daughters, birthdays, and memories. This jewel is based on Two Sisters, by Pierre Auguste Renoir, on display at the Art Institute of Chicago.

The Two Sisters has been a favorite painting of mine since I was very young... two rosy cheeked young ladies sit solid, happy- with a swirl of color around them. They both look out to the world with an eagerness that exudes joy. This is a piece that has grown with me at different stages of my life. I saw it differently when I identified myself as a daughter than I do today, as a mother.
